I have Monarch 3 4-16x50.
It is a fantastic scope for the money. Very bright. It has the BDC reticle which actually makes the horizonal crosshairs very heavy coming towards the center of the scope view, ie, it makes seeing the center easy in dark conditions.

What is your primary purpose for the scope and rifle combination?

I think the SS is a better scope if you can live without the zero stop. ILya

SS is made in Japan. Nikon is made in the Phillipines. Athlon Ares (which is what I think you looked at) is made in China. For what you want to do, SS is probably your best bet for the money. Ares ETR is a step up, but it is a more money. Ares BTR is in the same ballpark as the scopes you are lookjing at, but I think for the amount of adjustment you need, SS is a better bet. ILya
