Those were front wheel drives I believe...

I was quite surprised when a guy driving one punched it pulling into the road from a gravel parking lot.

the gravel was beating the hell out of the sides of the car....

My friend that passed away 10 years ago had a Toronado. He loved that car.

In High School my Band teacher was a car nut. In the summer of 1966 he bought a Toronado. Then he drove around the county visiting all of us students in order to take the car for a spin and show off.

He got a silver one. I had already read about them in Car and Driver but I was amazed when he drove in the driveway. It was summer and I was dressed in my typical BARN CLOTHES ( I remember how embarrassed I was looking like a slob...)

Anyway, what a freaking car!!!

* to this day I don't know how he knew where our farm was.....

It was those Federal regulations that took place in 1972 mandating the 5 mph crash bumpers that destroyed styling back then.

Yes it  was those 5 mph bumpers.  They are the only reason my parents didn't go thru several cars when my older sister learned to drive.
