Topic: Out of Hibernation - Photo Contest #59 June "SKY" Posted: June/05/2019 at 20:37 |
I was afraid that I somehow killed the photo contest in January but I got a PM from Skylar in May saying that I should start a new photo contest theme for this month. So, with a nod to Skylar and since I live in the Big Sky state, I think a "sky" theme might be appropriate for June. Any image of the sky, or something in the sky, or where the sky dominates.
A new dawn for the contest.
The sky is the limit.
Not my entries, but here are some seed photos because I like to see my pictures on the internet.

This old abandoned Trojan front end loader is parked near the campsite on one of my hunting leases in King County TX, out in the middle of nowhere between Guthrie and Paducah. I always thought it would look at home in the Pixar movie "Cars," as it looks like it has a face. The headlights are of course the "eyes," the steel ridge above the eyes eyebrows, and the bucket its mouth. I took this photo yesterday afternoon as a thunderstorm was rolling in, so the sky looked dark and menacing. I processed the photo using HDR techniques so I could bring out the rust and details of the machine, but the sky still looked almost this dramatic.

Shark-nado
Clouds are over a Tornado chewing up the landscape in Pawhuska. 65 miles from here. It was also dropping Baseball sized Hail.

Last day to submit a photo for this month’s photo contest folks. Remember to check the photo contest rules for a valid entry, namely that you took the photo and that it was shot this month when the theme was announced. Cyborg’s photo wouldn’t be valid for example because it was taken 3 years ago.

Thanks, I was holding out until today for a tornado or big lightening storm but no such luck. So, here's a drive-by shot of a storm brewing over the Crazy Mountains (except you can't see the mountains) that I took on the way home last week. No skill involved other than driving with one hand and not losing my camera as I hung it out the truck window at 80mph.
