I bought a couple of pairs of the Razor HD Binoculars and have been satisfied for my purposes.

However, I bought my last pair a couple of summers ago and the 8x42's arrived marked "China".
I sent them back for a pair marked "Japan".

I wonder:
  1. How much better the "UHD" version is?
  2. Are they Japanese like the earlier models?
The Field of View is less compared to the Ziess Victory-SF 8x42's

Considering what else can be bought for $1500, a Razor UHD  at that price seems to be a  joke.     Let's see.......a Swaro SLC or a Razor?   No contest.

I have seen some mentions elsewhere that they are Japanese.  I pinged my Vortex contact for details.

They sound like a step up, but we'll see.

My Razor 8x42's have been very nice. No complaints.
If we're not suppose to eat animals...how come they're made of meat?

They have always been good binos.  Weirdly, I liked the original 8x a lot.  The second gen was technically better, but the color balance was a little different and while sharper, they were also harsher.

I am bit busy now, but toward the end of the year, I might do another binocomparison int he $1000-$1500 range.

I did one a long time ago on what I called "almost alpha" binoculars and I should re-visit this category.

Given how good the binocualrs in this price range have become, it is ever more difficult to justify a $3k binocular, although the Noctivid I had was just spectacular.

What do you think the very best 8x42's are now?
Zeiss Victory SF or HT?
Or Swarovski EL, or Leica Noctivids...?

I'm leaning toward the Victory-SF....

That's very individual.

I like the Noctivid for my eyes.

With Swaro, I actually prefer SLC to EL.  EL just does not work well with my eyes.  The view looks harsh.

Victory SF is excellent though and the only reason I prefer Noctivid is their color rendering.

They confirmed that Razor UHD is made in Japan.
