Ilya you will have to compare them and let us know what you think. I'm really fond of my 1-4 Accupoint with a red post but I wouldn't mind having more power.

US Optics 1.8-10x tunnels heavily. It is more like 3.5-10x.
1-6x24 Razor has proven itself in all sorts of unpleasant places and I am sure the 1-10x24 Razor will end in the hands of the same SF units soon enough. I'll get my hands on it at SHOT next week, and I will let you know how I like it. By the way, I just started testing Delta's new Stryker 1-6x24 which is kinda like the Razor: simple mrad reticle in SFP and a very bright dot, except it is not as expensive. I am kinda liking it. I’ve always liked the concept of USO’s 1.8-10x, but saw just enough not great to keep me more in the 2.5-10x camp.
For a 1X, it has to be 1X, and it has to be almost as functional as a red dot. Obviously, it will suffer when having to shoot from unusual positions, but for the everyday stuff, a good 1X conventional scope is good. I have the razor and love it. While I agree NF has a stellar and well deserved reputation, I don’t feel the vortex is a deficiency, even on a gun that might be used on a 2-way range. But maybe it’s just me.

I always thought the US Optics 1.8-10 was a really great choice and granted its not a 1-10 but its been around for a while. I wouldn't mind having one of the Nightforce 1-8 think I would trust it more long term than the Razor. I remember seeing Chinese soldiers with digital optics on the rifle and a viewer on their helmet so you could hold the rilfe around the corner or over a barricade and still aim from cover. That stuff is out there but not on the civilian market. Digital cameras killed the best optical film cameras over night so the future of these high dollar optics is anyone's guess as computers and optics merge into future targeting systems.

The guys I have talked to say the new 1-10x24 Razor is as easy to use on 1x as the 1-6x. I will check.

Yea, was afraid of that. The Razor 1-6 is amazing at 1X; if the new stuff can't beat it, I'm okay with keeping a red dot and a 3-9.

Wait a little before you start changing optics. There are a couple of interesting options coming up and I want to look at them before I make recommendations. Generally, the higher the erector ratio, the harder it is to keep a large and forgiving exit pupil on 1x. ILya

How is it no one could figure out the need/want for a good 1-10X - for 20 years - now suddenly everyone has one?
Rhetorical question. I will definitely be flipping a few guns to 1-8X or 1-10X options, it is a 2020 resolution. But - and this is a big but - what matters most to me in a 1-to-whatever is the quality of site picture and the ease of getting it at 1X. If the 1X view isn't fast, the whole thing is a waste of effort. I have become quite comfortable with a good 3-9 and an offset red dot; if a good 1-10X can do it all in a smaller package, awesome; if it can only do 80% of it well, I'll save my money for ammo and range time. |

Tough decision.
Here's a link to the new Vortex Razor HD Gen. III 1-10x24 scopes. |

"$300+", that's a hard pass.
I am interested in this and the Vortex 1-10. One of the 2 will sell at least 2 to me. |

Yep, that's it Dan.
However, it's currently a unicorn - not on their website, and not available for sell to us civilians...at least not yet. I have a couple of the Geissele Super Precision mounts, and they are equally as nice/ cool looking and currently available.

I still think it is the Ultramount...
I believe the Ultramount is ready for release to civilians, not sure of timeframe. Last I heard in the $300.00 PLUS range.

I think it is a new version of the Nightforce mount. The clamps are sort of a give away. If memory serves me right, the S-VPS solicitation was for a scope with mount.
Geisselle mount went in with Vortex Razor, while Nightforce used their own. ILya

I can tell you for certain that it's neither a Geiselle Super Precision mount nor a current Nightforce Unimount, because the contouring and pocketing design on the riser isn't the same as on either. In addition, the screw torque sequence numbers shown in the photo aren't on current iterations of either mount. It may be some new mount or update of the Unimount Nightforce has plans to introduce in the future, but it isn't a current NF product offering.

That, or they just rebranded Geissele's mount.
It sure looks cool. |

Maybe a new version of NightForce's Ultralite Unimount with a lot of Geissele influence.
