This section looks like it needs a fresh post, so here goes some of my wildlife photography. I went out to walk my dog a few days ago and this Barred Owl was in a tree overlooking my yard with about a dozen bluejays harassing him. He was under some limbs taking refuge, so ran in and got my camera and put my 300 f/2.8 on it and setup with the sun behind me (last hour of sunlight) and hoped he would fly my way. The mosquitos were miserable and I was about to give up when he flew right to me and over my head. 'm pretty happy with the shots I was able to get.

The first shot was of him sitting with his feathers literally ruffled, hiding from the bluejays

the rest of the shots are of him flying to and over me.

Beautiful photos Jerry. They are an impressive bird and spooky quiet when they fly, well done!

I see Barred and Great Horned owls around my place quit a bit, but other than getting a picture with my phone (and that's rare) that's about it.
Those are great pictures and I'm glad you shared them with us.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

One question... what did you have to pay him to pose for you like that?

Awesome photos...

Thanks, the are two mating pair of barred owls in the woods behind my house, we’re very fortunate to get to see them several times a week.
