i guess if they only make a .50 caliber hole in a deer i could live with that, i dont have any horses or atv's or guides i pay, but i only work 9-10 months a year not counting deer season, so money is tight at times, so i cant justify me spending 100 after sales tax on 150 bullets when i can buy 600 bullets for that same price, and im not arguing that one bullet is better than another, and i know that the price of copper is crazy right now, but i cant see spending that kind of money on just bullets, i could buy 300 bullets and 3 pounds of powder for $100. if i am feeling really rich some time i will spend the $100 and buy a box of 50 for all three of my favorite deer rifles and try them out.

The .375 H&H in a well executed action and stock is one of the smoothest hard hitting calibers for big game and dangerous game IMO. Next on my list is a .416 for dangerous game and I am done with hunting rifles, I am not into .50's or above. Edited by SVD666 |

A rigby with a Mauser action, no scope, It will be something like this but with 3 tier rear sights and a hood on the front sight and a harder less fancy wood.

My cousin has a Dakota in .416 that he says he will lend me when I go to africa, but I would much prefer and feel confident with my own rifle.

i guess i can compare that too the people who live around here that own snowmobiles, lately we havent had stellar winters for snowmobiles and so sometimes when we get a few inches even if there is still a lot of bare ground showing they get that itch to use there toys, i guess thats somewhat understandable, but yet not exactly preferable,

People do the starangest things sometimes like spend $700 for a rifle and $40 for a scope. Buy a Swarovski and use Weaver mounts. etc.................

its funny that it usually works out that way too, i cant think of a single instance in my life where i have seen a really really nice rifle with a cheapo bushnell banner or tasco scope on it.

I have seen some of the stangest things before with set-ups. I ounce saw a poor guy at the range with X-High see through mounts on a standard factory 10/22 and a 8-32x40 BSA and wonder why he could not get on paper.
