Which would be the better scope. It will be going on a CZ Varmint .22-250
Burris 4-16x44 Signature Select with Ballistic Mil-dot reticle
Nikon 5-20x44 Monarch with BDC reticle.
I own a 4-16x44 Signature Select with Ballistic Plex reticle on another rifle and like it, but I'm checking to see if the Nikon would be a better choice for the .22-250.
Thanks |

The 5-20 Monarch isn't available yet, my friend. Should be late this month or next month before they are released.

I have a 4-16X44 Signature Select on my varmint rig. I believe any higher magnification than what I have will not be utilized. I normally don't go above 12x or so anyway. I do like the Burris glass and their warranty is fine also.

I have both a Monarch Tactical and Burris XTR, both have great glass and for the money, I buy USA made with the local warranty. The Burris had more audible
clicking you can feel in the turrets, it is a little heavier and more durable. The nikon is nice but it's over the $1000 mark new, the burris runs about $675 at bigrivertactical.com so it's probably going to be a cost decision. |

I'm buying a Burris Signature Select for my varmint AR off a friend. I can't remeber if it's a 4-12x or 4-16x but it's like $250. I've been looking at
Monarchs too, but the Nikons do not feel the same in your hands as a burris. Glass should be comparable at that level of Burris. If I don;t like it I'll sell it for cost, I may send it to burris for some Tac target knobs though |

I have Signature glass on a two rifles, both 22-250, and I have always considered it to be the equal of Leupold VariX-III. I recently bought two Monarchs from SWFA during the model change sale and can say without a doubt the glass is a definite step up. The resolution and brightness are better. Though the Burris resolution has always been pretty good their coating has a yellowish tint to the light transmission that has always bothered me. The Nikon is more neutral in this regard.

Thank you very much, Mark. I'm a hunter trying to pass on my experience. This forum is the best on the Internet and is an easy going stop on a daily basis. One of these days I will get my 100th scope and will be better qualified to hang out with you! I just bought those two Monarch's, so things are on the upswing.
Thanks again, Doug |

I think the fit and finish on the Burris feels more durable, like the checkered bell and balanced design on the FFII, just personal preference. The burris
XTR and Nikon monarch X are so similar, side by side I can't say one is way better than the other. The blue and green tones are a little brighter in the Burris, but my dad has always been a Nikon fan and said Brown tones are really crisp in his monarchs, which help seeing deer/elk. |

I like Burris over Nikon in riflescopes. My Nikon ED FS spotter is the sh*t though.

I too am interested in the new Nikon 5-20x44 BDC, and am comparing it and the Burris Black Diamond 4-16x50 Ballistic plex. I already have the Burris Sig Select 4-16x44 with Ballistic plex which I'm very happy with. I particularly like the uncluttered reticle -is the Nikon BDC as nice? Are the new Nikons even available yet? |

over the Burris, and I like the mil-dot with the Nikon just a personal preference and the Nikon is in at SWFA
