So, I order a new super sniper w/ the side paralax adjustment. Pull it ot of the box  & procede to break the paralax ring loose from the turret just by turning it. Not good as I forsee myself turning the knob repeatedly in actual use.

Apparently this is only attached w/ a little glue.  This does not bode well for the super sniper as this was to be put on a .50 BMG. I Just put a Nightforce on my .308 & thought this would last untill I get another one.

I will reglue the ring & see how it holds up. Anyone have any success w/ these scopes?

Send it back to SWFA.

I use and prefer the rear focus model.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

If I send it back I will be getting something else.  The ring is not an integral part of the scope, they are all glued. No different if I glue it (probably better) or they do it & send another one.

I'm just concened that the rest of the unit is put together just as well.

I'm sorry, I meant maybe you'd be happier with a rear focus model.

If you've received a broken/malfunctioning product from a company, send it back immediately. That way they can inspect it and fix the problem for future customers. They will also repair yours or send a new one. Good luck

Mine has the three srews as well. The ring w/ the yardages printed on is not part of the turret. It slips over the shaft & is glued on.

Mine is now glued on as well.  Not a big deal as it is not critical to the operation of the scope.

Just a little dissapointed it broke thats all, They are allbuilt the same & it was an easy fix. If it comes off again, I'lll probably just toss it & use without.

Or buy another nightforce.

First figure your trajectory, average is I think for a 180 grn. about 2.25 high at 100 yrds for zero at 200, and a needed hold or other compensation (elevation) of approximately 58.5 at 500 yrds, The SuperSniper will handle this no problem. The third dot down from the cross should get you there +/- a quarter inch without having to resort to knob turning, which should be done when reaching beyond the capabilities of the reticles compensation, and there is more than enough to go beyond the effective range of the 308 round.

The SuperSniper gives numbers which will tell you how many inches you can adjust up. they are based at 100 yrds so at 500 yrds you wold multiply @ 5 (.25 inches at 100 = 1.25 at 500) This is a great tactical scope by the way. Good luck to you.

I was a squad leader for a recon squad for a while in the ARMY. One of my troops was once a DM for the Marines, after he got busted from SSG, he got out of the Corps and went Army. I found his knowledge to be first rate and everyone cross trained, for every possible scenario, we all knew each others jobs, so that if necessary the squad would still be able to complete it's mission objective. So we were all familiar with the trajectories of certain NATO rounds. I've not dealt with the 7.62 NATO (308 Win) in quite some time as I shoot Winmags, and RUMags. What I can tell you is that the Barrell length Bolt seal etc.will also affect the effective range of the round in question, This being the age of the internet, you could likely find out this info on the web, just for averages as to be precise you would need range time to know your own weapon and how it utilizes the cartridges potential. Thanks and best wishes you take care.
