Another view from left to right.

I am not a really big fan of the scope on my 30-06 even though it holds zero just fine and has been very successful in the field.  It, out of the bunch, has killed more of my deer than any.  And quite frankly, I have NO idea what kind of synthetic stock is on it!  I just don't have it in me to change anything about the rifle.  My dad has done so many things to it from shortening the barrel, to switching out the stock three times leading up to this stock (which fits VERY well FWIW) to trying various cheap scopes prior to finding one that shoots well that I would feel bad by doing anything differently to it myself.  The Mosin was the first rifle that he gave to me, but it was a purchase and hand-off kind of deal.  That 30-06 has a lot of meaning between he and I...$50 scope or not, it stays until it dies!

Oh, and I have more guns down at our farm that I will have to post up later on...this was all I could fit in my current safe!

I had that same Tasco scope on a 30-06 for a long time and it worked just fine too.  A buddy bought the rifle and wanted the scope left on it.... he uses it for coyotes.
take em!

I'll tell ya what, with factory ammo I have never shot a group better than 1.5"@100 with that rifle/scope combo and the glass is downright UGLY!

With the short barrel and the rugged stock on it, it's one of my go-to foul weather combos that I like to take with me in dense brush to save the wood on my more expensive pieces.  Deep down, I would LOVE to see what the thing would do with a 4200 Elite with Rainguard on it out in the elements and accuracy-wise, but my old man gave me that rifle as was and I plan to keep it as is until it fails me in one way, shape or form.

Since my dad doesn't get on computers, I think that I'm safe in saying this here...the ONLY reason that I bought my .270 (cheap) and Bushnell Elite 4200 combo was to have a foul weather combo with a good optic on it for the days when the rain is really coming down.  That Tasco deflects water about as good as a sponge.  I told dad that I just didn't want to wear that old Mauser out...great, now I feel bad! Shoot Self

Oh, and I LOVE the "spring-loaded" trigger on those old Mausers!  I wish that manufacturers would have NEVER gone away from them.  It's just a nice, even pull until...BOOM!

Also, that stock is HEAVY!  I haven't weighed that pig, but it's easily 9-10lbs.  That's probably why it's so enjoyable to shoot with that 20" barrel...barely kicks at all.

Gosh, I love that old rifle!
