For the 1st time, I took my new little pop gun to the range today along with my chronygraph to see if my new Alaskan lived up to the positive reports!.......It certainly do!!!......Using 270 gr. Hornady spire point factory ammo, here are my chrony results from its 20" barrel....Very 1st shot recorded 2702 fps......Then cleaned the barrel......The 2nd shot was 2708 fps......cleaned barrel.......The 3rd shot was 2698 fps......cleaned barrel..........4th shot was 2710 fps., and so on!!! At the end of the days shooting, average MV for 40 rounds was 2706 fps. with an extreme spread of 13 fps..............13 groups of 3 shots per group were fired, with the average group size calibrated at 1.28", outside to outside hole measurement!!...............Transferred my 3x9 Elite 4200 from my 300 WSM Frontier over to the Alaskan using the same scope rings. Had to adjust the space between the scope rings, but otherwise a piece of cake to do!! BTW! No problem with eye relief, JUST IN CASE some of you Elite detractors were thinking about that????!!!! Recoil was as expected,,very pronounced but not out right vicious!..............This rifle is a handy dandy, go any where, under any weather conditions powerhouse!!!Excellent Thunbs%20Up Big%20Grin,,, WOW

13x3=39 rounds!!! The 40th???? Blasted a dead tree trunk at what my range finder said was 445 yards away on the ridge high above the targets! My buddy watched the impact through his 20-60x spotter!........Splinters were a flyin!!!!

More recoil than my 300 WSM and less than a 378 WBY.....Probably on par with the 375 H&H

Sounds like you're happy and thats always important with a new toy. I'm sure reloading will a. Tighten groups b. get you a little more velocity if thats wanted c. GREATLY REDUCE shooting costs! Enjoy!
