Any opinions (based on experience) with Leupold QR vs QRW mounts? Is one system better than than other?
Thanks, scott |

i have only seen the QR system, but never tried it for myself, but i think i would assume that the QRW would not only be tuffer, but would return to zero better.

If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns, I'll be only one of millions!!!

The QR system is more repeatable than the QRW. I have the QR bases and rings on my 280 Ackley and my 300 Win. mag. Remington 700 APR and my Knight Disc Extreme muzzleloader. I have shot groups with all three, taking the scopes off and putting them back on and I can say first hand that there is virtually no loss of zero.

Use a set of QR's on a Leo scout scope for a 270, and a set of QRW's on a Springfield 3rd, 4X14 and Rem.700 308 varmit. I take the QR 2X on and off all the time without any loss of zero, but remember this is only a 2X much faster than the QRW's. the QRW are taken of to clean the gun without loss at 14 power and sub-min of angle accuracyremains, with same poi. The main difference in selection after using them would be base preference and possibly a base height problem. That is one type may solve a base height problem. The QR tighten the ring to the base by an offset tension pin that can break (had one that did) which was probably my fault for tightening to hard. The amazing thing however was that with only 1 pin holding the scout scope on 8" steel plate shots at 100 yds were still easily done. Possibly not good enough for a rear mounted scope, but good enough for deer at 100 yards and well within the constraints I have for this scout rifle. Replaced of course to good of a set up to let go. While the QRW are not as heavy as Leo M series or the Badger types, I think a lot off other things are going to break before these mounts.
