I have a 1958 production Winchester 94, .32 Win Spl. I replaced rear  buckhorn sight with Williams 5D 94/36 aperature. However, adjusting all the way down, point of impact is still 8-inches high at 100 yds.

Original front bead ht appears to be .290 from dovetail base to bead top. Can anyone calculate for me the best replacement bead height to bring that impact down to X? Williams firesights are available in all of the higher models:

Existing height:         .290
  Choice 1                  .312
  Choice 2                  .375
  Choice 3                  .406
  Choice 4                  .405

Also, I have all of the upward movement adjustment available on the aperature in case I over-shoot and get the front bead a little too tall.

Hope someone smarter than me can recommend which height makes the most sense.

Well, while trying to figure out what that front bead height should be, I came across this calculator, which works!

That's a real handy tool, thanks Terry!

I changed sights on an late model 1885 with the Marbles. They had a calculator on their web site also. I put the folding rear and the white bead front on mine. The white bead helps to quickly get on the front sight. Good luck on your instalation.

Terry,  That Brownell calculator is really neat; however, since the the 94/36 peep mounts on the receiver - which is higer than the top of the barrel, what measurements did you use to get the calculator to come up with the front sight height?
