Until recently, I only hunted with a Redfield Illuminator. After looking through some modern glass, I was blown away at how far optics have come. After reading on here, I bought 2 new scopes - a Meopta Meopro with #4 reticle and a Leupold VX3i. The view on both is light-years ahead of my old Redfield. I went to mount the Leupold last night and straight out of the box, the reticle is not level. Back to Leupold it will go. I realize that all manufacturers have issues from time to time, but this is frustrating. Is Leupold having quality issues, or did I just draw the unlucky card?

Canted reticles is actually not that uncommon with Leupold. I’ve seen several canted Leupold reticles. It seems it was much more common a decade or two ago than it is now.

Always frustrating when you get a product that has an issue. Hopefully they will make it right. I have had several in the last couple month. A string of bad luck I guess I built a 6.5 creed AR over the last few months. The bolt had a problem and it appears toolcraft put a .308 firing pin in it instead of the 6.5 creed one. Which they fixed. My Faxon barrel had a bad thread job and it had to go back. The buffer tube I bought from AERO was out of spec and it had to go back. I also bought an Iota stock for a tikka rifle. The inlet job was so bad I could not even get the bottom metal to fit to where I could put the bolts is. There was so much slop in it around the bottom metal that there was an big gap all the way around. Then it took them a month longer than promised to ship me a replacement because they had to retool their CNC machine with my bottom metal to fix it for future production. Then when I got the stock back that didn't return my bottom metal bolts. I bought the stock through Stockys and they overnighted me a set. Frustrating few months for sure.

My limited Customer service experience with Leupold was really good. I lost my turret caps on a handgun scope and they sent me some new ones , for free, within 2 weeks. I am sure they will get it straight but I am sure that is frustrating as well !

I called this morning and they sent me a shipping label. Hopefully, I'll have it back in a couple of weeks. While I appreciate their friendly, responsive customer service, it's frustrating to be dealing with something that should have been caught in quality control.

Their customer service is excellent, not to worry, they have quick turn around too. Be glad your dealing with Leupold and not a company with crappy CS.

This. I’ve sent a scope back twice. Once for damage caused in a fall (replaced at no charge) and once to have the power adj. ring inspected and re-lubricated Excellent CS and quick turnaround both times.
