I paid $10 for a pair of binoculars I saw at a thrift store. They are marked 3x40 and the maker is Genos. The case says “Made in Germany.” A Google search of Genos shows they made Bakelite box cameras in Nuremberg around 1950 but I can’t find anything about binoculars or opera glasses by that maker. Does anyone know anything about them? I bought them mostly for the novelty. The glass doesn’t seem to be coated and with a 3x magnification I am not sure what the intended use was. Thanks for any info! |

No luck on the binoculars so far. I did find the listing for a Genos camera manufactured in Germany in the 1950’s but nothing else yet. Tried searching under their old name (pre WWII) Norisan Apparatebau, but nothing for binocs.
