im wondering what everybody uses when it comes to bows... here's my bow setups:
1. 2004 mathews legacy (god, is this one sweet bow) 60-70Lbs. 29" draw, with a trophy ridge matrix 5 pin sight, hindsight extreme peep sight, deluxe wisker biscuit (dont like the quick shot, it sent my arrows off to the left), mathews 2 peice quiver, carbon express shafts, withbohning vanes, and Eze crest elite crests, a cheapo kisser button, and muzzy broadheads...did i miss anything on that one...
2. browning ambush (nice bow for the money) 50-60Lbs draw, wisker biscuit deluxe, one of those older sights that move up, and down for yardage, bougth it from a pawn shop for 20 bucks...lol... shoots good out at 90 yards... PSE 2 peice quiver, beeman arrows, muzzy broadhead, a fiber optic peep sight (once again, dont know who makes it, bought it at galyans for 20 bucks), another cheapo kisser button.
so what do you guys have.???
BTW, i use kolpin bowtector cases.

300, and trigger, how do they shoot??? yeah, the new outback is sweet, and its pretty tiny, i dont like the black part where the riser, and limbs meet (cups?).... i almost bought it, but i always wanted a legacy, so that what i got, its super quiet, and all i put on it was string leaches, and 2 stealths, the ambush, you absolutely do not hear, i have 4 stealth limbsavers on each limb, the cable slide, the grip wrap, 4 string leaches, and the quiver insert... it shoots about 270 with it cranked all the way to 60 pounds, and the mathews chronoed 302 last night in my back yard.
trigger, hows the bodoodle, ive never known anybody that uses these, so i never knew how they do.

The PSE was my intro bow to figure out if I was going to like bowhunting and want to persue it. I love bowhunting and even though rifle season opened Nov 6 here in Texas I am still bowhunting. Something about being so close to the deer is the best rush.
The PSE is a good intro but extremly noisy, loud, and there is a good amount of felt vibration in the grip compared to the Outback.
When I started looking for my next bow I read alot of articles and forems but eventually went to the bow shops and shot anything and everything I could get my hands on from the Archery Research to Oneida's. The bow that I kept coming back to was the Mathews. |

It shoots real well for me, and my hunting buddies. They saw mine and liked it. So they had to get there own, being that I worked at a gun / bow store the years I was at school, they got a real good deal. Piegon Road in Stephenville, Texas, if any you are down that way. Great people. The bowdoodle is nice, Its very adjustable. Makes for a easy paper tune. I like the Mathews bows, but had a bad experince with there service department. Probablly just a freak deal, but it rubbed me the wrong way. I know many that shoot and love them. Good hunting!! |

I want to pick up a Parker Extreme Ultralite 31 this spring.
Don't laugh, my bow is a HURRICANE XG-1 MAGNUM. The cadillac of bows...................in 1985. Heavy and little let-off. Edited by Boomholzer |

I seem to be part of a dying breed. People that still shoot PSE. I currently shoot 2003 PSE Nitro 30" draw, 73 lbs with a PSE F-22 micro adjust sight and PSE quiver. I am using a Trophy Ridge Drop Zone rest. I am using a Doinker stabilizer with the new "ultra" Limb Savers and Limb Saver string leaches. I had the stock string and cable replaced with a Zebra set up from Mathews. I shoot Gold Tip arrows and the only broadhead there is to shoot, MUZZY. This is my first time on this forum. Good luck to all. It does not matter what you shoot, just as long as you are out there shooting. Archery kicks BUTT!

I have a Mathews Q2 30" 50-60#. I have it equiped with a Bodoodle pro 500 that I made into a fall-away rest before they invented it...(I wish I would have had the patent!). I have the Trophy Ridge Matrix fine 5 pin sights. I shoot Carbon Express cx 200 arrows with 80 gr broadheads (total arrow weight 330 grs.) At 60 lbs my bow shoots 286fps. I use a Carter back tension release while I shoot 3D and also while I hunt. Not bad for a 34" axle to axle bow @ 60#'s The biggest deer I have ever shot was a 185" non-typical with 18 points and 25" spread.
Happy hunting & 3d Shooting! JC Here is a picture of my deer! Edited by lurch(jec) |

2004 Hoyt Razortec 28" draw 60lbs.
I shot a few of the bows at the shop including Mathews and I like the Cam&half Hoyt better. This bow is perfect for spot and stalk or treestand hunting. I do alot of spot and stalk hunting for mule deer and I really like this Hoyt for that type of hunting. Short, lightweight and deadly accurate. |

I shot the Legacy but really didn't like the vibration I felt after the release. I have shot eight different Matthews bows in the last nine years and their most recent bow is my favorite. The new Switchback is faster than the Outback and stacks arrows consistantly on a dime. The Outback was good but they have bettered it with the Switchback by adding harmonic dampeners to the cable guard roller bar and have finally gone to a Winners Choice string that is guaranteed not to stretch. That has been my only problem with Matthew bows. Their old strings would stretch up to an inch and it made "fitting" a bow very difficult. This new string is the biggest reason for my change from the Outback to the Switchback. If you get a chance to shoot it, you'll love it. The only thing bad I can say about Matthews is that their sales skyrocketed so fast that their quality control slipped a little. When you get your new Matthews bow, make sure that it is tuned to Matthews specs as far as brace heigth and pay particular attention to the timeing holes on the bottom cam. Place a string through these hole "centered" and see if it parallels the shooting string. If it does not then your bow is out of time. You can correct this by turning the shooting string or the cable or both. Just remember that the strings on Matthews bows are critical in length and a little adjustment goes a long way. I do my own tuning but if you don't have a bow press then I suggest that you seek a qualified Matthews dealer. you will be amazed at how much quieter and with less vibration your bow will shoot.

Sounds like there are a lot of Mathews fans on this forum. I tried out a couple of them awhile back, but I ended up going with a Hoyt cam&half bow (Razortec). I am interested in trying out Mathew's new Switchback bow, I would like to see if it really is as good as some people are saying. Who knows I may just have to pick one of those up this year, if I like how it shoots and feels in my hands.
