Fyeah! Shootin is the bomb!.. Not like cleaning lspent that time cleaning to see if I could patch until they came out white like the directions say.. I don’t think there are enough patches to do that. . (factory rifle)

If yer keepin track here’s my method of what I did. Yep, 4 freegin days , booooring

Typically I use Butches Bore shine, but decided to go with the better smelling solvent this time (at least at the beginning).

Equipment used:

Tiptons carbon fiber single pc rod with bronze jag

Lucas bore guide

Cotton knit patches (3 oz) 2 ½” x 2 ½” cut into quarters.

Nylon brush

Cleaning method:

{ 1 cycle = 2 saturated patches, soak 5-15min, then 1 semi sat patch, then 1 dry patch }.

Mon.:

5 cycles Hoppes 9 Powder Solvent (20 patches total)

4 cycles Hoppes 9 BR Copper Solvent (18 patches total)

then I gave up.

Tues.:

7 cycles Hoppes 9 BR Copper Solvent (27 patches total)

2 nylon brush passes, (detach at muzzle)

then I gave up.

Wed.:

2 cycles Hoppes 9 BR Copper Solvent, EXTENDED soak time to 45 minutes each cycle (8 patches total),

1 cycle SOAK OVERNIGHT Hoppes 9 BR Copper Solvent (6 HOURS)

you guessed, gave up.

Thur.:

4 cycles Butch’s Bore Shine (17 patches total)

again, gave up , but copper beginning to show much dilution on patches.

To soak is friggin time consuming, I’ll stick with 8shots’ method.

some days we just get stuck and bogged down, Some days all u can do is smile and wait for someone to kindly remove your butt from the hole you find it wedged into.

My shooting buddy started have problem with his 22-250 a couple of years ago it had always been very accurate He had been shooting Hornady moly bullets for a long time.
He tried the electro-clean process and he was surprised how much fouling came out, its apparently harder to see the copper with the moly in the barrel. It was an overnight cure and his rem 700 was back to shooting good again.
I have used Sweets 7.62 followed by a good lubricant if you don't put oil or something back into the bore you can get rust in a short time.

Is the manufacture of Lucas guides the same manufacturer that made Lucas Electrics? the lights used on Triumph motercycles and Jag Cars.  Lucas Electric was refered to by owners of those motercyles as the prince of darkness and the story goes, the reason the English drink warm beer is they have Lucas refrigerators.

I'm sure I'll better that one day. But, not bloody likely in the forseeable future.

w0w thats way to much work. I just 3 stage hand lap mine straight out of the box shoot 20 or so thru it and then a good 5 or 10 pass's with hoppes and a wire brush and then lighty oil her up and off and shooting. the lapping takes about 2 hours but the cleaning from then on out take 20 minutes at the most. then I might clean every 60 rounds but it's not needed.

No, its one bourbon your dog laps out of your hand to every three Scotches you pour for yourself. You also get 4 stage hand lapping, but that gets a bit messy .......

ok thats about what I figgered 8shots. Actually, I'll take the Scotch and Bourbon and the dog can take a bowl of lager, he likes that. Ok, now that I researched hand-lapping it just seems like too much work, har. Boozer
