This week-end past, I headed down to the Eastern Cape, South Africa, for my mom's 80th. For those of you that sat in the back seat at school, the Eastern Cape lies at the south-eastern tip of Africa. It has a sub-tropical climate, with mild winters and a cooling breeze from the Indian Ocean keeps the summer temp mild. The vegatation is lush with klooves thickly wooded and bushed over. This is my home, and home to the elusive bush buck and bush pig. This is also home to the Eastern Caper, mostly British and German settler stock. We have our own brand of speak as example "to tie the dogs loose". It is also home to prickly pear witblits or moonshine.
Anyway, as I was leaving, I snapped a few nostalgic pics through the car window of the bush and klooves. Yes, this is late Autumn.
I will at a later date tell more and share some hunting stories. I will be off-line due to business for a couple of days, but will be back some time next week.....
Anyway, enjoy, drool and dream about those dark rams hiding out in the lush Eastern Cape bush!!!!

Not only sat at the back of the class but on the short bus too.

Lovely scenery, reminds me of the hills around my daughters place in New Zealand.

Hey 8, glad you sent pictures,  I had a completely different vision of the type of terrain you were going to hunt, "stereo-typical savana grass", now I know better.

I once worked on a drilling rig between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown.  We were 15 miles from the Indian Ocean and we could see the sea from the hill we were on.  The country was just like those photos!! What a great country!!!  (  Down in South Africa all Americans were called "Yanks" or " Englanders" !!  HA!)

Wow 8,
I guess I thought every placed looked like what I saw in Kenya when I was in Africa.  I really need to see the southern end of that continent too.  Great pics Bro.
