I have experienced a problem while using a Lenspen on riflescopes with the Rainguard coating? I have been using the Lenspen for many years on all types of optics and never had a problem before. The problem is that it seems to cause a haze on the Bushnell Rainguard Elite riflescopes that I own. The Elites are the best scopes that I have owned. You can pay more, a lot more, if you want, but you won't get much better as far as I'm concerned

Excess cleaning compound might be left on the lens after cleaning. If this occurs, pat the tip on a clean chamois or a clean soft cloth to remove the excess compound from the cleaning tip. Pressurized air or a "blower brush" will also work to blow off any excess compound on the lens.I hope this will help with your problem!! LensPen was tested by removing 500 fingerprints in a row from a lens with no discernible loss of cleaning quality. If you don't have a new one and it keeps doing that get a new lenspen that might help.

Microscopic photograph of a lens surface marked with a regular fingerprint.
The same surface cleaned for 10 seconds using a high quality optical tissue.
The same surface cleaned for 10 seconds using a high quality optical cloth.
The same surface cleaned for 10 seconds using LENSPEN.

Hey Stephanie, thanks for your advise, but, the problem seems to be with the Rainguard coating. Bushnell told me that they used a Lenspen on a Elite w/ Rainguard and stated that after what they found after what they referred to as "excessive cleaning( Less than 200 cleanings), they experienced the same problem ,what they termed a "halo effect "on the ocular lens on the test scope. I have been using Lenspen's since they first came out on dozens of riflescopes, including the B&L 4000 series scopes, all of my Steiner binoculars, spotting scopes, camera lenes, sunglasses, you name it. I've owned dozens of Lenspens without a single problem. The problem seems to be exclusive to the Rainguard coatings. Bushnell has stood behind the product 100%. The most frustrating thing about the whole situation is that the 4200's are FIRST CLASS riflescopes. I will continue to work with them until the problem gets resloved. For the money, I think they are the finest riflescopes available!!!
