Guys and girls, I'm losing my mind trying to figure out what spotting scope to buy....Money "IS" an object so that's strike one.....It's going to be used at an outdoor range here in Austin and I will be shooting mostly 30cal rounds from 50-200 yards..95% will be done in the broad daylight from under a cover out to a paper target.....I'm just soooooo tired of searching and looking, and keep changing my mind, etc...Plus, I don't understand the "laymens terms" when it comes to all the optics lingo. I just know I want a decent scope that can see a hole at 200 yards in the daytime...PLEASE send me some feedback/help/info/input on what y'all think would work UNDER the $200 range..I know it ain't much but it's what I got....I almost bought the Bushnell Spacemaster 15-45X50 , then saw the Trophy 25-50X50, then heard the 60mm lens would bring in more light, etc......Any and all help would be appreciated; I'm "tired" of shopping..And "yes", I've looked through a few but to be honest they're all pretty much the same from a store counter to their parking lot..ha ha Again, all help is welcome here by this "optics idiot" ok..Thanx and God bless ya, Marty

Under the conditions you have indicated the 60 mm scope is not necessary. If you were shooting/spotting at first light or at dusk you might see a difference, but during daylight hours you will not.
The Bushnell Trophy is, in my opinion, a better scope than the Spacemaster, though either one would do nicely for what you have described. Personally I have used a B&L Discoverer 15-60X60 scope for many years and have been thrilled with its performance. I highly recommend them over just about any other scope. The only problems they exhibit are that they are not waterproof and they are rather heavy. (Not fun to pack around the backcountry at all.) Under the conditions you stated, however, neither of these issues would not create any problems. The Discoverer can be found for about $220.

Ok folks, no one's really replying but got another question......Was offered a Bushnell Trophy 20-60X63 #78-7363 for $165 and wondering what y'all thought....I know it's a discontinued model but feel it's a good price as well as probably a good scope for the shooting range to at least 200 yards. Again, any replies are appreciated because I am NOT optically inclined.....Thanx again and GOD bless, Marty

That's the one I went for Chris.....Paid $164 with TT&L so think I did ok..Believe the 20-60X65 is replacing it but this one is made in Japan and the next one China, so hoping these optics are good....Will let ya know in 2 or 3 days and I'm just hoping they'll hit the 200 yard line w/o any major problems...Thanx for the reply !!!

Just buy a Bushnell Elite 3200 7-21X40 and be done with it. Great quality, good price, end of story.
