Any guys from the DFW area attend one of their shoots before, or is planning
on attending on in 2009?

They had one at the range I shoot a few years back. Got elected to babysit on behalf of the range.
Was interesting to watch without being involved.
Pro's as I see them;
Gets folks to the range for formal instruction on an semi-informal basis
Some of the instruction was good. Best common sense explaination of natural point of aim I ever heard.
NIce folks. Fred's the dog by the way.
Cons
Way too cheerleady.....everyone's a winner. Not according to Darwin.
Misconceptions about shooting 25 yards and becoming an instant marksman at 500 yards.
(note: got those folks to the range so it's all good in my book)
Waaay too many militia minded southerners for me to be comfortable (but more than a few accountants and lawyers showed up to participate)
Overall, if you haven't done much shooting and want to start being better than you are, might just be a good place to jump in. It's the shallow end of the pool so you're not going to be injured or embarassed.
Best one liner of tyhe year came from an accountant in attendance who was betrothed to a lawyer from Chicago. " I live, work and study in black and white......and now I'm doomed to a life in the land of the grey".
