They say that hunting start months before, with planning, rangepractise and the scheming and dreaming!
Well, our local hunting/shooting magazine has carried the first "Hunting Opportunities" ads. Probably about 200 game owners place small ads for the coming season. They typically read (and I will convert to USD currently at $1 to R10):
Alldays;Limpopo Province: Enjoy bushveld experience, walk and stalk. $35per person perday.Includes use of vehicle and firewood. Selfcatering. Kudu $350, Impala $70, Warthog$45, Blackwildebeest $200, Redhartebees $200. All wounded game paid for in full. Minimum 4 hunters. 50% deposit required. Phone xxxxxx or e-mail xxx@xxxxxxx
And so they go on and on. prices swing quite widely, with Kudu from $200 to$600 and so on. As in most cases one has to sit down and do your homework. They often seem cheap on one item, but nail you on the next.
My friend and I, that usually hunt together each year, brooded over these adds. Nothing really added up for us. In the end we decided we will rather pay a very good friend of mine a visit come end of May. He is a professional hunter with his own safari outfit. He operates about 10 hours drive from us in the Eastern Cape. We will do some game shooting with him, hunting non-trophy animals.

I hunted the Eastern cape a few years ago. I really enjoyed it. One animal I wish I would of taken when I was there, as they are dirt cheap there compared to here, is a fallow deer. Your freind has reasonable trophy fees.
