I purchased one because I wanted to look at some of the particular aspects of a scope of that type, 10-40.  I have not had a lot of problems with mine, other than that adjusting the focus knob causes the reticle to move... not what I would call a desirable feature.  It is a CHEAP scope.  I got mine for under $114, brand new.  It has worked OK for me, once figuring out the focus issue.  I would not purchase another, I would not recommend anyone purchase one.  When "shooting the box", accuracy is good, precision is not, which means it has poor repeatability.  It performed well on 30-06, which is mostly where I used it. The illuminated reticle is way too bright.  The focus problem I have named the "mad eye moody effect", if you are familiar with Harry Potter.  I could have an anomalous scope, have not attempted to send it in for repair.  If it fails, I will probably just shoot it with my .458 Lott.
I know a guy in South Africa who uses one to hunt, at night, big cats which attack his animals.  He likes his.
Purchasing NcStar is a crap shoot, in my opinion.  I suggest explore other options.
Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.
