I have a sporterized Remington 1903 30-06 that had an old Redfield Alaskan 2.5X scope on it. I want to replace it, but I'm not sure what type of mounts will fit. I am planning on putting a Nikon Buckmasters 3-9X50 on it. Thanks in advance for any help . Rick |

I know Redfield had a JR and Leupold has a STD (pretty much the same
thing) one piece, turn-in/windage adjustable scopes. If your 1903 is
not a 03a4 it is hit or miss whether it was tapped for the correct hole
spacing for these mounts. Well, it might not be drilled/tapped at all.
It is also hit or miss whether elevation will be OK, too, there seems
to have been some variation in the rear bridge height. Windage will
take care of itself because both these mounts are adjustable.
In other words, you can get a mount, but it might not be the type or brand you want, and it may require a little filing or milling to get it right. |
