Hi Guys -
I am starting to try out a bunch of cheaper 22LR ammo to find out what my rifles like best.
Most importantly, what my CZ 452 varmint likes best. I will be posting my personal results with different types of ammo soon, but would love to hear what you all are shooting in the meantime. Emphasis on CHEAP - I'd love to shoot lots of the good stuff, but it's not in the budget.
I hope to get some good ideas from the vet 22LR shooters on this forum. I know there is a bunch of stuff on rimfirecentral, but I'd love to find out what you guys are shooting.
Thanks in advance.

I have 3 rifles that like the Remington Golden Bullets, and 2 that don't. You will find each rifle will be different. Bulk .22s are getting hard to find around here, so get any you can find. I had 2 bricks ordered for 5 weeks then was rationed to 2 boxes when they came in. Most people say that the CZ 452 is a great shooter. Happy shooting.

I use 40gr CCI blazer and Remington Thunderbolt in my 10/22. Perform pretty much the same... I've found no real difference. CCI Stinger is OK, but not as accurate. I use Aquila sub-sonic (40gr), but it won't cycle my 10/22.

I also use Remy Thunderbolts for rimfire, both pistol and rifle. I'm sure they're not the best but boy are they cheap. Most importantly they always go bang when I pull the trigger.

Win wildcats perform about 90% of what CCI Stingers do in my 10-22. Up here the stingers go for about $40/brick, the wildcats about $22. I suppose you'd cut those prices by about 25% down there.

Today, I just picked up some federal american eagle 26 bucks for 500, and one of my personal faves winchester subsonic truncated hollowpoint 39 for 500. Gonna do some plinking over the weekend and will post some results. The Winchester subsonics are an awesome value for varmint hunting.

I went through this exercise in the past and my 10/22 clearly favored Federal promotional loads. So much so that they shot as well as most of the very expensive target stuff.
I immediately went out and bought as much as I could afford and never ran out. I sold the 10/22 with the extra ammo. I think it was Federal Lightnings.
I can think of no round that rifles, generally are so picky about. Very smart to check out the promo ammo to see if there is a "ringer" for your 22 rifle.

For right now it seems that you are best off buying whatever ammo you can lay your hands on. Your particular gun may not be overly fond of what you get, but shooting ammo that isn't exactly ideal is still better than not shooting.
