Slipped down to Cabelas this morning to compare these 3 rangefinders. I was really interested in the Leupold RX-750 TBR. It was nice but in the store I had a little trouble seeing the graphics. Same thing with the Bushnell Scout 1000 ARC and I believe it had more information in the display - but I don't know what it was. These two look nice and seems like they came down the same assembly line.
Then I tried the blah looking Leica and holy crap what a difference! It was much, much brighter and clearer looking thru it from the same spot at the same targets. Push the button once and the red box illuminates, push it again and the distance is shown in red LED. I think a blind man could almost read it. They had Nikons too but after looking thru the Leica, I was spoiled - it's a new Leica or I'll keep using my old one. Test them out for yourself.

Did they have the new Zeiss there?, I'm wondering how that would compare to the Leica?

I don't know if they had the Zeiss or not. I saw a picture of one in another thread and it looked as big as my Bushnell Compact 800 so I wasn't really interested in it. The Leica is about the size of a king size pack of cigarettes which is what I want.
Just found this:
The Zeiss is 5.11" x 3.85" x 1.88"
the Leica is 4 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 1 1/4".
I read the Zeiss somewhat requires both hands, the Leica is a one hand unit. Edited by tpcollins - July/28/2009 at 12:48 |
