set your rifle up on the bench and take the bolt out of the rifle and try to center the barrel with your target (at 100yds) then adjust your scope until its pointing at the same area as the barrel. take a shot and then adjust to dead center.

At risk of tellin you somethin you already know I appologize now.
Once you've made your shot or three shot group. If you have a bench setup that will let you lock your rifle down then you can adjust your scope to zero with little effort. It also helps to have a shootin buddy to do this. With whatever means you have to steady your rifle on target set it so it is on the bullseye just like your going to shoot again.
Now with the rifle locked or held in this position dial or have a buddy dial the windage toward the bullet hole or group center. do your best to keep the rifle from moving. Count the clicks in case you want to start over.
Once your satisfied that you have it centered thru the hole then dial the elevation to the hole. Again count the clicks to know where you are.
Now you are ready to fire your next group. How steady your adjustments were will determine if more adjustment is needed. If you have problems with this method it may suggest something is loose on your rig or a you may need a different shooting rest.
Either way good luck!

If you use that method, (which works great, BTW, as long as you have the rifle held solidly in the sandbags), you have to keep in mind that you will be turning the turrets opposite of the markings stamped or printed on them.
For instance, if you want to move the reticle to a bullet hole which is above and left of the original aiming point (the target's bullseye), you will have to turn the turrets in the directions marked "DOWN" and "RIGHT" to get it there, (at least with all scopes of current manufacture of which I am familiar).

Thanks Ronk, as much as I use that method I seem to still get it backwards now and then. I'm gonna copy your post so I get it right from now on.

Well Sarge, if you happen to forget that little tidbit now and then, at least you always get instant feedback that you're doing something wrong!
May cost you a few extra cartridges to get it all sorted out, though...
