I received my new Nightforce NXS Compact 1-4 with Mil-dot reticle on Friday.  I noticed that at 1x magnification, there is a transparent smudge (looks like oil/grease) at the 9 o'clock position...zooming in a bit makes it disappear into the periphery.

I can't seem to alter/clean this by cleaning the front/rear glass...thus, I assume it is something internal.  Is this common?  I plan to call Nightforce on Monday.  Any thoughts?

Call Nightforce, it does happen on occasion and should be a simple fix.  Another way to better identify it is to shine a flash light into the objective end (but not straight through to your eyeball) and see where the smudge really is and what it is.

Their Customer Service has always done me right, so get them involved and they should square you away.
