Can you even get anything good for under $150 ?

I just got my first Ar15 and want to put something on it.  I doubt I will be shooting anyhting over 300 yards. Kind of a SHTF gun. I want to be able to zone in on something easy (i.e.food) at like 50 yards but be able to hit anything I may need to  far away at like 300yards.  What range magnifacation should I look for? Low light situations if that can weigh in on it also?

Anything out thier for me in that price range that would be anygood?
Suggestions/ Tips are appreciated !

Thanks Dustin

I'd think in terms of low magnification variables such as a Weaver V3 or one of the Bushnell 1-4X Trophys.  You can actually get a pretty decent scope for 150 bucks or so if you don't try go for too much magnification, (and for what you wish to do, you really don't need too much.) You won't get fantastic low-light performance for that money, of course, but it won't be bad, either...

Burris Fullfield II 2-7x35 with German #4 reticle.

It is a bit over your price limit, but not by much.  With that reticle, it is a very competent low light scope.

These are good quality, but I have no idea how they stand up to autoloaders.

I just ordered a Vortex Crossfire Vortex 6-24x50 for $99... closeout special from swfa.  It will go on my middy BCM and I can't wait to try it out.  I really like Vortex optics and I'm getting into more long range target shooting and this will be my "starter" optic for this.  I'm not a real demanding person so if I can clearly see things at the range and it keeps zero, i'll be more than thrilled.

Another question. I like the idea of the 1 piece mount posted above. How hight do you think this will get the back of that scope off the rail? I got a flip up sight that folds down to just under 1/2" Aand would like to clear it . Can I go with this one piece or go with 2 individual high mount rings?

The 1.5-6 X42 is rather a short fat scope my bigest concern with the above mount is would the scope fit as the mounting area is not very flexable You will want to ask that when you call SWFA.  I dont know if your BUIS will lay under it or not. If you were in the high dollar price range there is a different mount I would suggest but I doubt you want to spend $200 on the mount.  You might go with ultrahigh Warne rings in 30mm, even then it will be unlikely that the BUIS will fit.  La Rue makes a expensive cantalever quick detach mount that would allow the BUIS.  Also note the 1-4x Bushnell Trohpy has a straight 30mm tube and there is no doubt it would work with the one piece SWFA mount very well but ASK about fit if you go with the 1.5-6x42.
