Sunday I took my Bushmaster Predator to the range to dial in the scope but ran into a problem.
Using reloads with a col of 2.218 63gr. Sierra rem. 71/2 primer the firing pin would not make contact and then the bolt would lock up and have to be forced back in order to clear the chamber.
When I got home I pulled a few bullets and tried on empty rounds with the same resuslts, so I pulled a few factory heads and tried and the primers went off.
Could it be that the bushmaster is chambered for 5.56 and most of the reloads are 223 or is something else the problem. These are all .5 loads or better in my Savage bolt guns so I thought I would give a try in my AR.
All loads get FL sized when loading so that I don't have to segregrate them when loading.
ANY IDEAS are welcome.  Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need to set the shoulder back just a bit.  It looks like the bolt is closing but it is probably not so the bolt is not able to lock up properly which means a no go.

You need to be full length sizing and pushing those shoulders back just a touch.

I ran into the same issue once with my .223 wylde chamber and that fixed my problem.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.
