Hello to all, newbie here, just picked up a Beretta 3901 with a 24" cantilever rifled slug barrel and looking for a nice scope to top it. I have been looking at the new Redfield 2X7X32 but its really not for a shotgun, would it work okay?
I am also looking at the Nikon Pro Staff shotgun hunter 2X7X33.
You can see my price range or where I need to be at, what do you guys recoomend?
I will be hunting in thicker stuff, I walk through a open field to get to where I am going but besides that my longest shot will be 70-80 yards at a max.
Thanks for the help!

Haven't used either, but wondering why you want that much mag. Why not a 1x4 variable?

The Glass in the FFII is decent glass but I think the real selling point of this scope is the #4 reticle. The rotating eyepiece/power ring is a non-issue to me on anything other than bolt guns.

We measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a crayon, and cut it with a chainsaw.

I have the prostaff 2-7 on my slug gun and it performs adequately but if you can afford it go for for the nikon slughunter. I think it has buckmaster glass and a little extra eye relief.

Either of those scopes will work. I agree the slug hunter would be a better choice because if the glass being a little better. I have a Sightron SII 1.5-6x40 on my 870. Don't be fooled into thinking you have to get something that was made for a slug gun. It just means it has a slightly longer eye relief and a shorter paralax. If you can't afford the slug hunter, you may be able to find a Bushnell Legend 2-7x33 in your price range and the glass is somewhere between the prostaff and the slug hunter. The only problem is that they were discontinued and replaced with the Trophy XLT. I don't know how the XLT compare to the Legend but they apparantly use the same glass.

I have and really like my Vortex 2-7 Viper on my 870 slug gun. I also have a Knoxx Recoil Stock on there so it's 3.5-4" of eye relief was and is a clutch factor for me.
I wouldn't want a shotgun scope with any less than 3.5" eye relief. My 2 cents anyway.
