Hello all,
I just picked up a new Remington 700 VL lefthanded .308 and wanted help on what power scope to use. I am looking at SS10x42 or the SS16x42. I also wanted to know what would be the best mount and rings to use on it. I will be using this for target shooting 100M to 300M at this time and would like to get up to 600M in time.

Thanks,
Mark

Get the 10x for sure. Everything optically is superior in the 10x. When you go up in magnification you start to loose the clarity and resolution the 10x will have. Don't worry about not having enough magnification. Even at 600m with 10x you will have enough.

Badger mounts is what people usually end up getting when they go looking for the best mounts. The Leupold Mark 4's are also a nice setup.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. The Mark 4's are the best Leupold has to offer. You probably figured that out by now.

I'll second that motion   -----    Get the 10X  but spend the extra hundred for side focus.  Badger rings are the best.
