What to do now? I have been trying to mount a scope on my Auto Ordinance M1 Carbine. First scope, BSA 3x9x40, illuminated rec.4.5" eye releif. Couldn't get enough verticle and not enough eye releif. The mount I got from Sportsmanguide with Weaver mounts so the scope cradles will only go one way, not enough eye releif. Took advice and put on a Tasco with Weaver extended mounts, mounts fine, centered on target with adjustment left both up and side, EXCEPT, NOW THE DAMN SHELLS GET CAUGHT IN THE RECEIVER, STOVEPIPE!! Because the shells eject and hit the mount extention and stovepipe in the receiver.Have to have the extensions to give proper eye releif. Not everyshell but probably 3 out of 5 get caught. WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO??? Anyone have any suggestion, I am open to all. Thinking of tring a shorter scope. I cant go with taller rings. This is the mount I used. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/search/search.asp?r=ad%2Fothe r&s=SEARCH&a=search&k=m1+carbine+scope+mount You might be able to see my problem as if I use the extended weaver mount in the first knotch then it sticks out over the ejection slot, that is where the shell casing gets caught in the receiver. |

Should have gone with a Ultimak forward mount and extended eye scope or dot. I use then on AK's for the same reason you are finding on the M1.
