I've never bought a scope before. I have a Bushnell magnum phantom 1.3x that came on a 218 bee barrel for my t/c contender - transferred it to the 357mag barrel because I can't afford ammo for the 218 bee. I'm wanting a scope for my S&W 22a semi-auto pistol. have been looking at 4X32 scopes from Simmons, NcStar & Osprey. Am wanting to keep the cost to about $100 or less. Will be target shooting at 30 to 50 yards and hunting jack rabbits at about the same distance. Is the 4X32 over doing it for a 22 lr? Do I need a better scope than what I've been looking at? What scopes do you guys recommend?
Thanks, Bernie |

I tend to think that a red dot scope is most fun on a 22 pistol.

I'm near sighted so I take off my glasses so I can see the sights on the gun clearly but when I do that I can't see the target very well. I have a scope on my T/C Contender 357 mag. and it works pretty good with my glasses off, so I'm thinking magnification will help me see the target better. I'll be shooting at about 30 to 50 yards. Does anyone have an opinion about Simmons Pro-hunter 4X32 pistol scope?
Thanks, Bernie |

Handguns are hard on scopes so I might not go simmons. Burris is pretty tough I have a couple of their handgun scopes one on a 45-70 and one on a 44 Mag

If I were buying a scope for a 44 mag. (mucho recoil) it might be a
different story, but with a 22lr (little recoil and I would think not
very hard on a scope) I'm thinking the Simmons might be OK. I don't want
a POC scope but I can't afford a $300 one. What I'm trying to
accomplish is magnification so I can see the cross hairs and the target
too.
