Since I can't use my Deer rifle any longer (I had a stroke 3 years ago and also have a pacemaker on my right side) I traded it in for a TC Encore 7mm-08 pistol.
I am putting an Aimpoint 9000 SC 2X Red Dot sight on it. Aimpoint has available a 2MOA version and a 1MOA version. Since it is a 2 power the 2MOA looks like a 4MOA on the target and the 1MOA looks like a 2MOA on the target. My question is - Is a 1MOA really hard to see through the the sight? There are no Aimpoint dealers close by so I can look through both sights to make a comparison. TIA |

It's not as small as you think. That 1 moa dot will cover an inch at 100 yards. It would be fine for hunting. |

I have one of these 4MOA Aimpoints that I have been thinking about putting on one of my Encore pistols. I have a 1x burris short mag on a 45-70 Encore pistol that is awesome. I had a 3-12 Burris on a .308 Encore pistol and for still hunting it was good but for anything else it was more scope than I wanted on a pistol. I think that you would be happiest with a 1X model with 4MOA. If your deer are within 100 yds and you can keep the impact within a 4 inch circle you have a dead deer.Easy to see the dot. Also the above aimpoint uses two rings therefore two points of contact with the pistol. These guns have lots of recoil and having two scope rings is a good idea. If you use the leupold QR base:
You want the extension rings or you have to cut down about 1/16 in of the 30mm ring to fit... use this:
