Just got off the phone with Laselyte. Long story short "....oh well. if it doesn't work send it back, blah, blah blah", she says. Who's gonna pay for the return postage I said, not my mistake your product doesn't work as advertized. No answer on the other end. Let me speak to the president of the company I said, as nowhere in your package does it say that this rail may or may not work with some pistols...... "give me your name and number and we'll call you back" she says. No, I'd like to speak to him now, I said. "Everyone's busy around here" she says. So, am I, and you've wasted enough of my time by selling me a product that's not been properly designed and/or built. I gave her my name and number and I'm darn well sure they'll be falling all over each other to call me back Howdy

Another American company that doesn't deliver, and we dare complain about Chinese made products? Yea I'm pissed because I expect better from us! No more Laserlyte nothing for me, ever! You've been forewarned.

Yes, I would be interested. Looking to buy one or two as long as they're still like new and working fine. Thanks!

For those who can't run the older Burris application on their Vista and Windows 7 machines you can try the link below for a possible simple fix.

For Vista users (will work for Windows 7 users too):

Windows 7 users can also download XP virtualization from Microsoft for free. This is more involved but a good app to have.

Then there's VMware.  Wink

You didn't miss much.

It was big and bulky, and used an outdated interface (USB 1.0).

I sold mine immediately.

Just sent all three of mine back to Burris about two weeks ago.

SWFA wouldn't do anything to help, so they had to go back to Burris.

All three has laser tracking issues. One so bad I ran out of left adjustment over two range sessions. Laser kept moving to the right about 8-12 inches after a few mags. Then would stay put for awhile, then start moving again.

All three had laser tracking issues, the reflectors for all three of the flashlights had glued fingerprints on them.

Terrible build quality, no wonder Burris couldn't sell them to LE, especially for $600. Had I known how bad they were, I wouldn't have paid $40 each for them.

In any case, Burris is going to send me three new ones which have been completely checked out and they also sent me two coupons for 60% off their manufacturing price (suggested retail price ???) that I can use for two other Burris products.

Burris doesn't give refunds for items they don't directly sell to the public from their site/store. Since SWFA wouldn't/couldn't help, the ShotCams had to go to Burris directly.

In any case I'll use the two coupons to get a couple of the 1-4x24 Fullfield II Tactical scopes directly from Burris that I've wanted since they were introduced. I've found Burris customer support to be helpful before with my AR-332.

My son has a 3-9x40 Fullfield II which has given no issues. My replaced AR-332 has been good too, so I expect the 1-4x24's with the same reticle as the AR-332 to be GTG, especially since the reviews are good for that scope too.

In any case, I'll have three new Burris Shotcams, I suppose, in another couple of weeks.

I need to call next week to check status of the replacements. Burris only has a few units left for warranty replacement.

I would have rather gotten my money back, but understand Burris' point of view and am satisfied with what they quoted me for the 1-4x24's with the 60% off coupons. I don't know what I'll do with the replacement ShotCams, as I no longer trust them to work long term. All three worked fine for awhile, I test fired and sighted-in each of them on my son's CX4 Storm carbine and they held zero, but when put on a 9mm pistol they all lost POA/POI after a few mags and the laser would shift so much. Add that to the fact the unit's flashlights just plain sucked anyway and the camera and video weren't very good either and you had a mediocre product at best.

One neat thing you could do though was set it up as a webcam 640x480 on your PC running Windows XP with the additional software provided (not the pcam software) but rather the PistolCam Video Device app that gets installed too. It defaults to 320x200, but you can increase the video resolution when using it as a webcam to 640x480 and the framerate to 30fps. Of course now that's not very high resolution compared to cheap webcams you can purchase now, but neat you can use them like that.

I may put the replacement ShotCams on low recoiling firearms, like 22LR, but will never trust them to 9mm pistols again. Kind of defeats the whole purpose. I suppose if you only use the video or camera mode, and don't care about the laser, then you'd be GTG. The video resolution defaults to 320x200 so you can't change that when it's used on the firearm and the quoted 3MP camera is very low res ( I mean the .jpg compression is too high) so that the actual video and pictures aren't all that great. Low light video and pics are useless due to low framerate/shuttter speed. Very blurry due to motion in low light. Not too bad outdoors in good light though.

Anyhow, I wish I could say I had better luck with them, but didn't. Only time will tell if the replacement units function any better. I bought them for pistol training, especially in low light and for that they are pretty much useless as cameras, but if the light and laser work reliably, then they still would be somewhat useful.

It'll be awhile before I can test them out again. I may keep two to put on my two GSG-5's (one for me, one for my son) and then may give one to my son's friend for his new S&W AR-22 (or whatever it's called). I would hope they'd last longer on low recoiling rifles and could still be fun to use if they work reliably. Big IF.

Need 50 posts before you can edit, though I think the review is clear enough for everyone to understand.  Thanks for taking the time to do the write up.

I dont really think we need to keep bringing this thread back to life.  The product is no longer available and even when the thread started, it was an out dated and severely discounted product,  because it was not popular.  I have one it works, but not that great.  So if you have issues with one you own send it to Burris. If you dont own one dont buy one.  Time to get past this, because Burris does try to make good useful products and some have been a tremendous success like the eliminator scope with rangefinder built in.  I'm locking the thread at this point because the shot cam is no longer a current product so the only people who can help you is   ---   Burris.
