of any ballistic calculators/bdc apps for android? I know they have some for the iPhone, but I haven't come across one for my android yet. Free is a plus, too.

I've got one that I got from searching the marketplace for "ballistic" I'll have to see if I can locate my supercomputer, so I can see what it's called. It was free.

Ok. found it. BallCalc for android vers. 1.4 is what I have. If you go to the Android Market, and do a search under ballistics it comes up as ballistics calculator with a creator name jki275.

where do you put the bullet weight in?

It's got

DRAG FUNCTION
DRAG COEFFICIENT
MUZZLE VELOCITY
SIGHT HT
TARGET ELEV
TARGET RANGE
WIND SPEED
WIND ANGLE
DESIRED INTERCEPT
ZERO RANGE
ALTITUDE
BAROMETRIC PRESSURE
REL HUMIDITY
TEMPERATURE

No bullet weight, am I being stupid?

Ummmm. I don't think you do. I've not seen it calculate energy anywhere. Honestly I've not really used it much at all, but just got it in case I was at the range and forgot my info.

There are several free apps, I've got two, and then there is SHOOT!, for 9.95, recommended by Brian Litz.  I have it too.  GREAT APP.  Highly recommend it.  There are a few "additional" apps which provide aid, as well.  I can integrate my Kestrel, SHOOT!, and range finder/calculation information and reach a coordinated solution.  If there is no signal, manual inputs.  I can do things I only dreamed of a short time ago.

Oh yea, there is also a bubble level app that is as good as any "mechanical" bubble level.  I've tested it under some pretty extreme conditions. It is outstanding.  Level your rifle after you collect all the ballistic firing information.  It's a real kick...

Now, they just need to build an app that goes with iron sights...

Ha Ha!! I use the bubble level app too! It works pretty well. Too bad my phone is not very flat on the side. I'll have to look into the SHOOT app. I saw it, but didn't want to pay $10 for it not knowing if it was any good.

KB is right about the app being something Bryan Litz was involved with. But the actual name is Shooter - more info @ http://sean.kndy.net/shooter/

I haven't tried it since I have an iPod Touch and run Ballistic, but it's supposedly very good and comparable to JBM and Ballistic. Nice that you can get calculators like these for less than $10.
