I don't have the exact model 4200, but I do have a couple 4200s and they are great scopes.

I do have a Vortex 6.5-20x50mm.  It is also a good scope and has decent glass and good adjustments.

I would pick the Vortex just because of how great the Vortex CS is.  If you have a problem it is not going to be a problem to get it fixed.  Bushnell is really struggling in that regard.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Glass is gonna be about equal. The Bushnell will be a bit brighter on max power due to the larger objective. Vortex has better customer service. Bushnell has exposed turrets while the viper is capped if you want. The Viper has a nice power indicator on the dial that doesn't require picking your head up. Viper is still in production, Bushnell is changing all its elite series under one name.

I own a 3-9 4200 and a 2-7 viper. I wouldn't part with either one of them. If it was me, I'd just have to buy both!Wink

How about if we put the Monarch 4-16x42 up against these 2?

I have this one! It's a great scope but:

1. Above 18X the view from it starts getting slightly milky. Not bad just slightly noticeable.
2. I wouldn't recommend it if you are going to shoot over 500m as there's limited vertical adjustment in the scope.

Here it is on my Remington:

Thanks for all the info. Its a tough choice as I'm sure i'd be happy with any of them. Maybe i'll just flip a coin or put a pic of each one on a dart board, blindfold myself and throw a dart and let fate pick

For hunting I'd go with the 4200 because of the rain guard.CS I'd go with the Vortex.
