Good day
I purchased a used RCBS two die set on Ebay for my 243. Now its time to use them but the re size die is very very hard to use. The die seems to tight for the brass. I lubed gently but no luck.

Then I noted it says 244 FL on the die. Does that mean its not meant for .243?

Yeah, you got the wrong die. The 244 is basically interchangable with a 6 mm rem I believe. They have more powder capacitiy than a 243. I would call who ever you got it from if you can.

It started out out as the 244 Remington and then Remington changed it to 6 mm Remington. This cartridge is like the 257 Roberts necked to 6 mm.

The 244/6mm case has more case taper than the 243. The overall case length is longer than the 243 on the 244/6mm. The 243 length is 2.045 and the 244/6mm is 2.233. The 257 Roberts and the 7X57 cases are the parent cases for the 244/6mm. You have the wrong die to load your 243. The 244 FL, which means "full length" sizer is not what you need.
