Yeah, scarface_usmc-
It's also dry as a bone here in the central part of the state. We've had several good years, but looks like we might be heading back into a drought cycle. Maybe since the Pacific is in a La Nina state, that might have something to do with it. Here's a great link for the Oklahoma Mesonet which shows soil temps, moisture at several depths, etc. It's THE world class enviro/weather system that all the rest want to emulate. http://www.mesonet.org/ Of course, we have the National Weather Center, Nat'l Severe Storms Lab and Nat'l Severe Storm Prediction Center here as well as the nation's latest and greatest radars. When there's a chance that more F5s might fire up and go rippin' across the state, it's good to know that somebody's payin' attention. |

Talk about timing! Drudge Report just linked to an article saying that Oklahoma just experienced the driest 4 months since the Dust Bowl. There's no rain in the next week's forecast, either.

Wednesday morning I got home at 1:30 AM. Opened up the forum to check the new post before going to bed. Turned around to a orange glow. The 360 acres SE of me was on fire. Its a good thing the winds had calmed downfrom the 45 MPH during the day to only around 20 mph.
It was after 4 AM before getting back in to shower and go to bed.

Mostly sage grass with a few clumps of 6-8' small trees. With the wind it was dropping embers out to 1/2 mile. I spent my time at my property line. There were 8 trucks. 2 pumpers 1 water truck and 5 of the wildfire trucks.

Send it this way man. My yard has a bunch of cracks in it and I'm thinking about filling them with sand so when it does rain I gain some land.
