Anyone use meprolight Glock Tru-Dot® Night Sight? I'm thinking of some for my Glock33. Maybe the 17, as well, but it has CrimsonTrace.

Dan, I'll have to check out the manufactorer on our sights for you, but Meprolights were one of two approved night sights for my old dept., I believe Trijacon was the other brand.

While not a glock, I have a set on my Kimber since I bought it in 03. They still glow strong and have held up great.

Just spoke with a friend that was in our arsenal unit and he said Meprolights were the sights that came on our Glock 22s. He said we got those instead of Trijacons because they cost less.
I'm not sure what my current Dept. is using, I'll have to check. I have had to replace the front sight after about 6 years. It was an older style and came loose, and the rear sights were washing out the front sight making it hard to find at night.
Just found it, we use Trijicon.

The Trijicon Night sights have a small screw that holds the front blade on and the Glock brand Night sights use a special tool to expand the inside like a rivet. SWFA sells the Trijicon ones. If you have a friend that has the tool so that you dont have to buy it the rivet type is nice but if you have to install them yourself the Trijicon is the way to go you just get a nut driver the right size for the screw its something like 5mm (not sure of size mines at home). I like night sights and have used them for a long time, wish I had them on everything.

Glock discontinued the staked in front sights, and now use the screw to hold the front sights on.
We had the older style staked sights on our initial order of pistols. The front sights would come loose and cause windage changes in shot placement from shot to shot. As they come loose we replace them with Trigicon front sights.
They are easy to replace if you have the Glock front sight tool, which is just the correct size socket on an extension basically. Use a drop of Loc-tite blue on the threads. I use an adjustable square to make sure the sight is parralle to the bore. Tweezers might help start the screw in the threads of the sight; it's tight in there.
I replaced the sights on a Glock 35 I use for competition with True-Glo tritium sights which is basically the same. The rear sight was the challenge since it didn't really fit the Glock rear sight tool.

I have a new Glock 23, the sights are ok I guess. I plan on a flashligt for it soon. My Kimbers are the ones that need new Sights, both of them and thats gonna hurt a little but it will sure be nice once its done. I love those Kimbers better than any auto Ive picked up or shot.. There is a new 9mm with a real smooth design that I would like but you cannot buy the high capacity mags like a Glock so Im still debating that. Im a 45ACP guy anyway..The Glock is butt ugly but it works well and holds a ton of rounds.
So these Trijicon sights, Im curious what color combos you guys like the best?

My HK came with meprolights which were OK but I soon replaced them with Trijicons which I like better. To me they seem brighter and better quality than the meprolights, at least the set on my HK.
IMHO the three dot green setup that I have on most of my semi-auto pistols are definitely the brightest but I have a yellow/green combo that I really like as well. It's basically a matter of preference. |

I tend to have the sights all one color. I strongly recommend you install night sights.

Just an FYI, When I talked with the Trijicon people they told me that the green last longer than the other colors.

Not sure how much longer but yellow is now warranted to 12 years too. Do you offer different colored night sights?Yes, Trijicon offers the choice of yellow or orange lamps in the rear sight only. We always keep the front sight green because it is the brightest and longest lasting of the colored tritium. It is also the color with the most contrast from muzzle flash. Green and yellow sights are warranted for 12 years. The orange lamp only carries a 5 year warranty. |

My 33 has night sights already, I just don't like them much. The 17 does not, but has the CT Laser, which is KICKa$$. The meprolights I'm looking at have a 12 year warranty. I'll take a look at the Trijicon's...

I think you will like the Trijicons. In my experience they try to make their sights so they look like factory original. Meprolight sights don't look like original equipment; not that that's a bad thing.
I agree with Wes, night sights on a working pistol are a must. I'd rather have good night sights than a flashlight; if I can see my target and sights, I can hit it. Flashlights seem to washout pistol sights, making it hard to find them.

An alternative that you might want to consider is a set of TruGlo tritium night sights.
I've had them installed on a Glock 23, and they work just fine.
