going on leave in 11 days...i have a new 10fcpk savage in .308 cal sitting at my brothers house...i have a millet trs-1 scope on its way.. now for rings and base....i would like burris xtr rings..if i dont run a base would medium heigth rings be high enough for the 50mm scope? or do i need a inexpensive base and go with burris xtr low rings... if its going with the base.. i would need to no which one....this is the first weapon i own for longer range shooting...any input would be helpful..thanks

I would suggest an EGW picatinney rail. It is not that expensive, and with low XTR's, it will afford you a lot more mounting options for dealing with eye-relief.

went with a 20 moa egw and the burris xtr lows.. thanks for the input..8 days and will be putting rounds down range.. if everything arrives by the time i get home.
