Good take on it. Wired Magazine recently had a story on this subject as well. Turns out it's not all roses for those who import from China. I suppose since most systems tend towards equilibrium it wasn't going to be the case forever that Chinese labor would be so much lower (or that our labor costs would continue to rise). Personally, this is one of the times I feel lucky to be old enough that all of the tools I have were either made in the U.S., Canada, Germany or Japan (a Makita drill and orbital sander). My father-in-law used to work for Linweld in Nebraska and Missouri and they sold a ton of supplies to Irwin, but now Vise-Grips, etc. are all made in China.
