We live in an area that is normally classified as semi-arid, so a sight like this is rare. I took this picture the morning after we got (another) inch of rain:

Nice Jon!!

Early morning backside of our camp. I'm at the edge of a cliff, there's a canyon between me and what looks like an island. It's actually the other side of the canyon along with a large plateau just to the right.

Yes, Lake County in No. Cali. You know how it goes, pictures don't do it justice.

Waking up just about anywhere in Montana's a great view as well!!

Those rocks on the right, are they visible from I-15? I have seen that view, but I can't place it. Lived up in Butte for a couple years.

They are. It's known as the Sleeping Giant. I read somewhere that there was a big earthquake-induced rock slide that caused the formation on the right to look the way it does now.

The Sleeping Giant on a pillowtop, eh Jon?

I was in Helena two weeks ago for a week of training, and ran some hills up around the Capital.  The miles go by faster when there is a good view.

They do indeed. I hate being inside a gym and love being outside running or biking. We've got it pretty good here.
