I'm wanting to upgrade for my .22 and spend in the neighborhood of 150. My 4 X 32 cheapy is a little foggy and I think my shooting would be better if I had a better scope with a little more magnification.
I looked through the burris 4.5-14 X 32 a friend had on his rifle. I loved the reticle & variable power, but didn't like the very sensitive eye relief and how the scope seemed to lose clarity as the magnification was dialed up. http://swfa.com/Burris-45-14x32-Timberline-Rifle-Scope-P11004.aspx
Looked through a leupold 4 power the other day, great clarity, a little more than I wanted to spend.
So...I'm looking for suggestions.

Here's what I have on my modified 10/22. I can regulary fire 1/2" groups at 50 yrds with it.
4/10/11 I took the new Tasco to Bob’s Accuracy Shop. He snickered at the idea I would buy a Tasco 4-16X World Class. Everyone knows they are trash. He tried to convince me it would not hold zero if the magnification was changed. After installing it in his scope fixture he ran the power to 15X. I asked him why and he told me a cheap scope would blur out at its highest setting. I turned it up and it was beautiful. Bob was very surprised. He has a grid on a tree about 100 yards from his bench mounted scope fixture. There was no discernable point of impact change throughout the magnification range. He knew adjusting the parallax would change the crosshairs. It didn’t. He did some impact testing to see how it would react to recoil. Again no change. By the way, I paid $71 including shipping. |

I run a 2-7 Weaver Rimfire on my 22. I really like it. In your price range.

Weaver Rimfire is the way to go. Their 2.5-7x28 is in your price range and has excellent optics. If you want to spend a bit more the 3-9x32 w/AO is a really nice scope.

+1. I'm borrowing that Weaver rimfire scope (from CT) as we speak. It's definitely a keeper and a good value. Edited by bugsNbows - June/10/2011 at 11:22 |

Here's a nice little Hawke w/AO and mildot.
http://swfa.com/Hawke-2-7x32-Sport-HD-Riflescope-P45839.aspx or this Hawke: http://swfa.com/Hawke-3-12x44-Varmint-Riflescope-P48453.aspx This Kruger has a 50 yd. parallax setting. I know nothing abut their scopes, but their binoculars have impressed reviewers. http://swfa.com/Kruger-2-8x32-K4-Rifle-Scope-P46872.aspx There are a lot of 'finds' in the SWFA scope selections. I maybe shouldn't post this and get you all confused- the Weavers seem to be everyone's fave all- around rimfire scopes. |

Tasco World Class? Just goes to show you should personally LOOK at all the suggestions, and not gamble on another's opinion. (might have to look at one of those myself)

I run the Weaver 2-7 rimfire scope on my 22 but one other possible is the Redfield scopes.
another choice would be the Bushnell Trophy scopes. I have one of those with illumination which can be nice for varmits at night. http://swfa.com/Bushnell-Trophy-XLT-Rifle-Scopes-C1745.aspx I have a Tasco also and while it is OK it is no where near as nice as the Weaver or Redfield or Bushnell but it has held up pretty good for several years on a .375 H&H that I thought might break it so while not the best glass it has been reliable. This would seem to be in your price range and have an adjustable objective which is nice for a .22

I have two 2x7 and one 3x9 AO Weaver scopes on .22 rifles for hunting am very pleased with them. I also have a Trophy XLT 4x12 AO on a .22, and although fairly large compared to the Weavers, it works well. For a general purpose scope it would be very hard to beat the 2x7 Weaver for the price.

I run a 3-9x40 redfield revolution on my .22, I'd suggest a 2-7x though, and perhaps a rimfire. I only shoot out to around 60yards though.
