Hi all I am trying to help some people get into F class shooting here in Australia they are both using heavy barreled 308's
I'm trying to find a scope that will work out for them in both hunting and Target shooting out to 1000y
as they are new shooters they are not yet ready to outlay a lot of money on a scope the problem I am having is the scopes normally suggested for this type of shooting are outside there budgets in Australia
the likes of Vortex Vipers and Sightron are $900 dollar scopes
the only scopes I have been able to find that would probably work out for them is a Nikko Stirling Target master 5-20X50 I think it has enough magnification and is low enough at the bottom end for hunting
the scopes generally run at twice the price here in Australia and there looking at around $350 US
importing them from the states is not really an option can anyone think of any brands I can try and find here to help them out?

Weaver "T" series might get you what you want but they go for $400-$450 US.I have friends who shoot 1k yards that tell me for the price they are pretty good.

Look at the Mueller 6-25 or the 8-32 target dot both have nice clear glass and should have enough power range for 1k. At around $250 u.s. they should fit in the budget nicely.

Take a look at the Meostar R1 4-16x44 with either fine Z-Plex II or Mil Dot reticle.
Both have adjustable objectives for paralax adjustment from 10yds to infinity, 30mm optics, etched-glass second focal-plane reticles and are pin-point accurate.
Yes I work for Meopta, but I am not here to sell Meopta. Just answering questions and providing reasonable insight.

What about the Lynx scope range?
They are pretty good value for money.
They are available in South Africa. Not sure of import issues etc.
