There are, to my limited knowledge, 2 means of duracoating: one heat cured, one not.

I have duracoated many scopes, but always with the non-cured process.  It works quite well, offering great protection from scrapes and chemicals.

Good luck

All of my scopes are Duracoated at the same time I do the rifle. I DO NOT duracoat under the rings. My thinking is that the Duracoat will cause issues under rings. Maybe not, but I'm paranoid anyway.

I'm with Jetwrnch on this.  I always spray over the combination of rings and bases.  Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but I don't like the idea of having paint between my rings and scope.  Also I would stay away from the heat curing paints, as this might cause issues with the nitrogen seals in the scope. Not knowledgeable to give any real confirmation on this, only a suspicion.

coating is very thin , it is advisable to apply airbrush, shown to be really hot body to be painted , but at 30 degrees does not affect any rear window seals and no nitrogen in it.
