I see Savage is listing them on their website, don't know how long it'll take them to get to the retailers?

I saw an ad for it in Shooting Times.... previous issue I think....  first I heard of it.  I really want one!  I've always wanted a 22 Hornet... but couldn't get past paying "center fire" money for want seems like a "rimfire" round.  But the 17 Hornet sounds like a legit round, yet with only rimfire recoil.  I'd love one in a Savage bolt ... either Model 11 or 9417 type.  Can't wait.
take em!

i think savage is the lone maker right now. my dad has an old winchester single shot in a .22k hornet that po ackely built for my grandfather eons ago. for whatever reason he is interested in the .17 now.

did you see the balistics on the 17 Hornet?   .223 like performance with the recoil of a 22mag!

Still going to push that light bullet around in the wind.  But an interesting round anyway.

im not sure what he wants it for. my old man never buys a gun unless he has a genuine use for it.

problem with the 22 and will be a problem for the 17 is both head space on rim, making outstanding accuracy almost impossible. by handloading and only partially resizing the neck I was able to get acceptable accuracy out of a cz. using 296 and 40 max--not hornet bullets. the guns success will be determined by what bullet the ammo maker uses, which doesn't leave much in the 17 area
