I wasn't second guessing you, Jack. I bought the love of my life, (rifle) Big Grin, online and sight unseen.
If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Sorry it took so long to write back,...it took me some time to find what kind of ammo this gun likes. Turns out federal, 210 Nosler partition is what it likes being fed. I have confirmed this with Savage. This is what they shoot through this gun.

I started out with some Hornady and I was getting 5 inch groups at 100 yards. Not acceptable. I was trying out the Superformance SST 225 grain. This gun, maybe its the short barrel does not like this ammo. So I played with a few others, and found that the 210 grain Noslers were giving me inch groups at 100 yards.

For those that might believe that I might be flinching or the recoil might have something to do with the accuracy,...please rest assured that I was using a lead sled and I installed a PWS - PRC brake and the gun was very light on recoil.

Hand loading for this gun will start this summer,....we will see what happens then.

All in all, I am happy with the result from Savage trying to fix the gun and with the accuracy of the gun.

However I have a Remington SPS AAC in 308 that I can put one shot on top of another at 100 yards. So not not at all impressed with the Savage. Will I buy another Savage,...I don't think so.

Thanks again for everyone's help and information.

Gunjack, some Savages need to be broke in. The one I shoot was terrible when I first started; now it will stack bullits.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Glad I didn't get one yet.  I know to hold it in my hands prior to purchase...

Thanks for the heads up.
I won't be buying a 116 AK Brush Hunter sight unseen or hands unheld.
Looks like Savage cut a few corners in Quality Control to keep the price down.
If it looks to good to be true it usually is.

Come on Savage.  Let's get it together.  Absolutely NO REASON to send out a product like that in the first place let alone AGAIN after it's been "repaired".

   Gunjack,
Without trying to remove whatever it is on the bolt can you see any pitting?

I'm going to wait and read a few online reviews on this latest Savage brush gun when they become available.
I'm in no desperate need of another short magnum gun .........have a modified Remington 700 in .416 Rem Mag that I chopped the barrel to 20" and added a Timney trigger then dropped it in a synthetic Ramline stock after it split its wooden factory stock in half halfway through the first box of ammo to defend the place in case of a dinosaur invasion.Loco

Probably a reject that was returned by a previous customer and then dumped on you.
I have bought a few Rossis and Remlins and am used to having to fix minor defects and flaws.
Be happy these days if you get a straight barrel and a functioning action.
Seems that's the new gun manufacturing paradigm - stuff the crappiest POS in the box that customers will tolerate.
Quality control, workmanship and just plain ole "giving a phuk about your product" are a thing of the past in the new age gun manufacturers race to the bottom.

The stock on my Savage 93/17 looks about the same as yours. The rust on your rifle is inexcusable and a mystery.  I was thinking of buying one of the new HOG HUNTERS in 308, but I'll buy one from dealer stock and give it a close inspection before laying my money down. I have another Savage model 11/243 that I bought for $399 bucks that shoots like a champ. I love the accu trigger ,but I'd be ashamed to use the injection molded stock for a tomato stake.
