I am really new to riflescopes and am a little confused. I put a Weaver  RV9 Rifle Scope 3-9x 32mm Adjustable Objective on my 10/22 (with Talley med. mounts if that matters)The rifle will be used for hunting small game. Zeroing the scope at 50 yards was pretty straight forward. Now I moved to 25 yards and for some reason I shift the AO to the 25 yard mark on the scope and my POA is center on target and it ends up POI center of target. Based off my experience the bullet should have impacted about 1"-1.5" low.(holdover)  So I guess my main question is: does the AO act as a BDC?  When I shot at 25yds. I was expecting the bullet to impact below my POA and when it hit on target I was stumped. I probably should have gone back to fifty and hundred yards and played around with it but had to go. I will be taking it out again next week to do a little more target practice before I shoot a few squirels, so any and all help will be much appreciated. Thanks,Stone.

A lot depends on the valocity of the ammo from that particular rifle. The difference between 25 yds and 50 yds wont be much where going from 50 yds to 100 yds should show several inches of drop below center.  The adjustable objective should not work like a balistic compensating elevation knob.  Keep working with it.  Wouldn't it be great if it holds the same zero all the time.  Good Luck.

Thanks for the help!  I was using CCI-36 and 40g ammo. I will keep playing with it. Maybe my expectations got in the way of reality.Big Grin

I hate to say it but 22 is often not a terribly accurate cartridge, its in the bullet design. A 17 HMR will smoke a 22 for accuracy. Even the best target 22 ammo is only a tad better and the average ammo is minute of squirrel when you hold your mouth just right.   Lighter weight bullets are faster less drop for a little way then at longer range the heavy bullet outpreforms it.

Not to familiar with the 17HMR, but beleive it or not I was shootin 1" groups at 50yds. Thanks to the Weaver no doubt. I was thinking through my original post and figured out how I came to my mis- calculations. When I first bought the 10/22 the only scope I had was this:  http://swfa.com/NcStar-3-9x42-Mark-III-Tactical-Rifle-Scope-P47683.aspx  So I zeroed at 50 at the range then shot at 25 and my POI was about 1-1.5" low of my POA. At that time, about a year ago, I did not know anything about holdoffs or scopes in general and I have to admit I'm still pretty green. Anyways that scope is for a .223 and I probably should not have used it on a .22  I am wondering if the POA and POI shift at that time had something or everything to do with that scope and I took my experience and applied it to my situation earlier this week. Anyways thats why I joined this forum, to learn from the wealth of knowledge here. I will have to look into that 17HMR you mentioned...
